Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to all of our family and friends! We hope that God blesses all of His children during this wonderful season. Let us remember that Christmas is a holiday set aside to worship Christ and to thank God for sending Him to save the world.
Gifts and shopping are secondary. We have found that homemade gifts are the best ones of all and have known families that refused to buy anything that was advertised on TV, just on principal.
Please don't let the commercialism of Christmas ruin it for you! We know some families who have taken a stand against it and have quit giving presents to anyone at Christmas. It is a shame that the masses have everyone so stressed out over gifts that it has been ruined for everyone.
Have a grand Christmas all!

Beautifully put, and how true! The violence that was seen in the US during Black Friday is surely a testament to how far gone the masses are with this consumerism. It has robbed people of their sanity, individuality, and dignity.
I found your blog from cheaprvliving. So glad I did.
We stopped celebrating the mad materialism of the season several years ago and it is such freedom. Now, if I give gifts to my immediate family they are either small bags of lotions and shampoos that I know they will use, or homemade gifts, such as tatting.
It's so great not to have a big credit card payment due every January!
I like your approach to life. Will be following your blog.
Welcome Tiny Camper!
We have stopped giving gifts altogether now. My inlaws started that a few years ago but with 8 kids and 22 grandchildren,, I don't blame them! Ourselves and our kids were finding it hard financially, as well. I still bake sometimes or make soap and give it away, but we don't buy anything for gifts now. It makes Christmas so much more enjoyable!
My friends and I exchange thrift store gifts. I usually make some kind of little paintings.
I have exchanged thrift store gifts with friend too. It's a great idea and you can get some nice boxed things, new and unopened!
Merry Christmas! I've been catching up reading on your blog. I must say that you are brave folks to set out on such an adventure! Enjoy it, as I know you have.
We buy very few gifts at Christmas, mostly because we don't have many family members to buy for. We buy a few things for our kids and each other (mostly things we need anyway), Donna and Walter, and Lee's parents. Rita preferes something that I made, and I might give an occasional small gift to a couple of friends. (Remember how mother would buy EVERYONE a present? That was crazy.) Now we would rather focus on enjoying the season and celebrating--church activities, parties with friends, etc.--and making a point to do some special things together.
It's great to hear from you, Janey!
(Janey is my sister)
I do remember that and we used to try to do that too, at first. It's been awhile since we have bought presents for many people. We have been just giving the grown kids money for Christmas, until recently. They don't have the money to do gifts and for their sake too, we stopped doing it. Now they don't feel obligated to spend money on us.
The inlaws have not wanted anything for years, as they quit doing it themselves way back.
